Pakistan’s right-hand batsman, Umar Amin, has proven himself as a talented and a potential leading batsman of the country, considering his performance in the domestic ranks.
Last year, the middle-order batsman, who represents Rawalpindi at the domestic level, was included in the Pakistani squad for the Asia Cup, which took place in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
The 22-year-old played his first ODI match against Sri Lanka at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in 2010, scoring 7 runs on 26 balls.
However, he did not perform during the tournament, playing 3 matches, scoring 34 runs with an average of 11.33.
Despite of Amin’s poor recital, the national selection committee selected him in the team for the series against Australia and England, considering his stylish batting.
During the English tour, he managed to play the first match of his Test career, which was against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, at Lord's in London.
At that time it was expected that he would successfully cement his place, as the experienced batsmen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Younis-Khan-c98325 were not included in the squad. But Amin failed to make any impression, and wasted
the opportunity which was given to him.
Following his unsatisfactory performance, he compelled the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to lift the life time ban from Yousuf, which was imposed on him after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s tour to Australia, as it was reported that the legendary batsman
had been involved in conspiracies.
After sorting out matters with Yousuf PCB sent him to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 to strengthen the batting department of the team.
Before Yousuf’s arrival, Amin was part of Pakistan’s playing XI for the initial 4 matches of England’s tour, but he failed to adjust himself with the English conditions, collecting 99 runs with an unimpressive average of 12.37.
Remember, Pakistan played 2-match Test series, and 4-match Test series against the Aussies team, and the Poms respectively during the tour.
Three Pakistani players, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 to ban them later, and recently they got jail punishments following investigations of the
Crown Court in London to breech the local law over corruption.
Coming back to Amin’s selection in the national side, after England’s tour, he has never been selected for the home team despite his considerable performing in the domestic circuit of the country.
Meanwhile, the emerging player has also been showing his bowling capabilities, which can make him a useful all-rounder, as during the above mentioned tour at times he was successfully introduced by team’s skipper to break partnerships.
The way the-right-arm medium pacer bowled sensibly and smartly, using the seam condition of England was impressive.
Recently, the young talented batsman, who needs appropriate coaching from PCB to improve his batting technique, showed reasonable performance during the country’s domestic Twenty20 tournament.
He played 5 matches in the event, scoring 158 runs with an average of 39.50, picking 5 wickets with an economy rate of 6.60.
However, despite his terrific all-round recital, his side Rawalpindi Rams failed to win the final against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions.
But Amin, who has served Pakistan in 4 Tests, and 3 ODIs, earned the attention of the national selectors, as recently he was appointed as Pakistan’s captain for the ongoing SAARC under-25 Twenty20 tournament in Maldives.
At the moment, the Green Shirts are performing terrifically in the event under the captaincy of the emerging all-rounder.
Before SAARC tournament, the graceful batsman was expressing good batting show in Division one of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
He participated in 3 matches, earring 244 runs with the help of 1 century and 1 half-fifty, which has been helping his side National Bank of Pakistan.
Coming back to his future for the national side, considering his all-round capabilities, if Amin would be included in the team, he can be an asset for the country.
There is need to give him a consistent chance to show his talent at the international level of the game, PCB needs to produce back up of every player.
Meanwhile, it is likely that Pakistan’s captain the-37-year-old, Misbah and the middle order batman, the 33-year-old, Younis are going to leave cricket very soon, considering their age factors, therefore, Amin can be an ideal option
to replace them.
