Emerson Dvd Recorder.........?

Question

I have a emerson dvd recorder and when i record a tv show onto a dvd it will only play in that dvd recorder it will not play in any other of my dvd players. I even tried it in my computer what it wont even read it. It justs ejects it. Is there any way to get my computer to read then copy it and burn it to a new dvd so i can play it in other dvd players?
