It was recently revealed that Jordi Alba was not naturally a full-back and Unai Emery told the press that defensively the Spaniard had to start from scratch.
Jordi Alba recently showed that he is a phenomenal full-back and while everyone thought that he is a brilliant defensive talent, not many knew the fact that he was actually evolved from being a winger to being a defender.
Unai Emery and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Villa-c10629 recently revealed how Jordi Alba had to start from scratch while trying to become a full-back as his new-found position did not only give him the option to attack, but also to defend, something which requires immense practice.
Last season Jordi Alba showed that he can definitely do wonders while playing in the left-back position. After his brilliant performances for the Spanish club, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 Del Bosque and the Spanish coach decided to play him in the
Spanish national team.
Alba was just a young player and nobody thought that he will directly kick into the first team, but he still managed to do so and even though Spain have a lot of star players in their first team, Alba became an integral part of their starting line-up and
was also the surprise package during http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011’s Euro 2012 triumph.
Unai Emery recently revealed how he had to go through a lot while trying to convert Jordi Alba from being a winger to being a full-back. The former Valencia coach said that Alba found it hard to survive in the midfield and he was always relieved whenever
he played Jeremy Mathieu in the midfield instead of him.
Therefore, according to Emery, Alba converted from being a winger to being a left-back after his desire to play in the midfield diminished. The former Valencia coach said:
“Jordi went from not wanting to play as a full-back to not wanting to play as a midfielder.”
Unai Emery also revealed how he had to start everything from scratch while trying to teach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordi-c19110 Alba. However, he did not take the credit away from the star full-back and thinks that all the credit goes to him after the amount of effort he has put in to
become what he is today.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 coach said:
“Everything has to be put into working order and with Jordi we had to start from zero in terms of defensive concepts.
“The credit for the explosion of Jordi is solely with him. It is, above all, in his capacity for work and his desire to grow and learn.”
