  1. You have 2 choices regarding you son's visa. You can either apply for him on your partners visa(subclass 100),or you can apply for duel citizenship for your son,and then apply for an Australian passport for him.(I found it alot easier to apply for duel citizenship for my 3 children and then their Australian passports)

The whole process(duel citizenship and their passports)took just under 1 month.

My husband's visa took just under 4 months from start to finish.

This website will have all the forms you will need  for your partners visa.

    http://www.immi.gov.au/immigration.htm

If you find is website overwhelming like I did,you can also ring Australia house in London and ask them to send you all the  forms, that way you know you have all the right forms your partner will need.(I think there might be a small fee,but it's only a couple of euro)and is worth while doing it this way as they will also send information on whole long the process can be,( you will find it won't take that long as you have a child together, and have been together for some time)when to go for a medical exam and where to go for your medical exam and any other information you will need,as Australia house in London are not aloud to answer any questions some one might have regarding visa questions. If you do find yourself with questions that you need answered, you are better off getting some one in Australia to ring the department of immigration on your behalf.(I had to get my Mam to ring 4 times for me).

Australia house in London is where you will have to send all your husband's forms and pay for your husband's visa.

If your going to get your son duel citizenship then his Australian passport, you can do that through the Australian embassy in Dublin.

Regarding your question about Perth,I wish I could help, but I know nothing of Perth(I live in Victoria). You best bet is ask about where to live in Perth and where there is heaps of work for your partner and you will get some very good and helpful answers in the Australian travel section.

I hope I was of some help to ye.

    Take care.
