Emile Heskey injury blow for Aston Villa
Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey has been ruled out of action for around four weeks due to a medial knee ligament injury.
Heskey was injured during a training session with the Premier League club. Aston Villa medical staff have since confirmed that the player will need surgery to correct the problem.
"Heskey tore the medial meniscus in his right knee yesterday in training, with no other player involved in the incident. The injury will require an operation and he faces between three to four weeks out
of action," said an Aston Villa statement.
The news will be a big blow for Aston Villa because the club lacks players who have the same abilities as the former Liverpool striker. However, John Carew can have a similar physical presence.
A big blow
This news will be a big blow to Aston Villa because Heskey is one of the few players in the club that can hold the ball up effectively. This means he can play up top by himself, providing Villa with the
extra luxury of playing another man in midfield if necessary.
The club could now be forced into playing a different style of football. Even though Heskey is a big man, he has the ability to drop into the midfield to pick up the ball. With Carew the only fit striker,
Villa may be forced to play the ball long, which is easier to defend against.
Heskey also carries a presence, which only John Carew at the club can mirror. He is a big, powerful and strong unit and Aston Villa will miss his hustle and bustle in and around the penalty box.
The good news is that Heskey should be recovered and ready to play by the time the busy winter schedule kicks in. This would allow manager Gerard Houllier to rotate his attacking players.
Betting advice
Aston villa carries a greater attacking threat with Heskey in the team. Maybe wait one game to see the style that the side uses. Always back Aston Villa to win games and be successful when Heskey's in
the team.
