Emilia Pikkarainen and Sami Juopperi shine in Espoo - Finland Long Course Nationals 2011
Emilia Pikkarainen and Sami Juopperi dominated proceedings with their scintillating swims at the Finland Long Course Nationals 2011, held in Espoo, Finland, on Thursday, June 30. Both swimmers put up a wonderful show and amazed the arena with their performances.
Initially, Emilia Pikkarainen took home the Women’s 200m butterfly crown with a victorious time of 2 minutes and 13.14 seconds, while Soininen Petra wound up second in 2 minutes and 20.54 seconds. Heikkinen Melina rounded out the top three in a time of 2
minutes and 22.39 seconds. Villa Ida wound up fourth in 2 minutes and 24.14 seconds, while Reed Kollanus settled for the fifth position in a time of 2 minutes and 28.56 seconds.
Sami Juopperi secured top spot in the Men’s 200m Individual Medley with a sterling time of 2 minutes and 03.65 seconds, whereas, Jere Laukkanen earned second place honours with a time of 2 minutes and 08.64 seconds. Sami Myre wound up third in 2 minutes
and10.04 seconds. Miro Torola ended his swim in the eight position, after he complete his swim in a time of 2 minutes and 16.14 seconds.
In the Women’s 50m back-stroke category, Anni Alitalo secured the first place with a time of 29.34 seconds. Riia-Rosa Koskelainen touched the finishing wall second in 29.62 seconds, while the third place went to Mimosa Jallow in a time of 29.84 seconds. Moona
Myllyaho settled eight in the respective meet in 31.30 seconds.
In another event, Mika Sola clinched the Men’s 50m butterfly race with a sterling time of 24.87 seconds, whereas, Riku Poytakivi rounded out the top two in 24.90 seconds. Ville Tirroniemi finished third in time of 25.07 seconds, while Arttu Pikkala wound up
eighth in 25.43 seconds.
The Women’s 800m free relay crown was taken over by Anni Alitalo, Emilia Markkanen, Jenni Ruohoniemi and Hanna Maria Seppala of Cetus with a winning time of 8 minutes and 25.74 seconds.
The Finland Long Course Nationals is an opportunity for swimmers to train themselves hard for the upcoming World Championships in Shanghai, this July.
