The Portuguese talisman has averaged over a goal a game for Real Madrid in the Spanish Primera Division since joining them three years ago.
Real Madrid director of institutional relations, Emilio Butragueno, took out time to talk about http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629’s outstanding goal scoring statistics for the Capital club.
The former Real Madrid player heaped praise on the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 national team captain and remarked that while Madridista have become used to such statistics, the feats of Ronaldo are very hard to achieve.
He stated that scoring one goal in three matches is hard enough, the former Manchester United star has gone one step ahead. Butragueno especially highlighted Ronaldo’s statistics in Real Madrid’s La Liga run and was left amazed at the 46 goals from 38 appearances.
"Scoring 46 goals in 38 matches is to score more than one goal per match," he said while in conversation with reporters.
"We are getting more and more used to such stats, but only those who played football know how hard it is to score one goal every three matches.
"To average one goal per match is just incredible."
Everything is not rosy for Ronaldo, who scores effortlessly in the white jersey but has set to show a similar return in the national team colours. The Sporting Lisbon youth academy graduate has come under severe criticism for his failures with the Seleccao.
Reflecting on Ronaldo’s relationship with Portuguese fans, Butragueno was dismissive of claims that the Navigator faithful hold grudges against their best player. He opined that the Real Madrid number 7 must be popular with his compatriots given his footballing
skills and professional behaviour.
"The Portuguese fans must be proud of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-c9622 Ronaldo," Butragueno noted. "In addition to his football skills, he is an exemplary professional."
In his three years at the Santiago Bernabeu, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 has managed to hit the back of the net an amazing 146 times in 144 competitive appearances, racking up 36 assists as well.
The 27-year-old has been instrumental in Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey triumph in 2010/11 in which he lifted the trophy after scoring an injury time header, and the 2011/12 La Liga trophy, leading the club to domestic glory with his goals and assists.
