Emilio Largo likely to win Memorial Handicap
Emilio Largo is determined to achieve the first victory of 2012 by notching up top spot in the Wilmot-Smith Memorial Handicap that will be held on Tuesday, May 29. The Class 3 contest over the distance of 1 mile will commence at 3:40 (GMT).
Pursuing the prize cheque worth £6,931, the Sir Henry Cecil-trained bay gelding will compete against 8 rivals including Askaud, Dubai Dynamo, Extraterrestrial, City Of The Kings, Toto Skyllachy, Snow Bay, Just Bond and Merchant Of Medici.
The four-year-old veteran horse marvellously won three races in a row during June-July 2011. After a long gap, he returned to action in April 2012 and finished 5th against 21 runners in Berry Bros & Rudd Magnum Spring Cup (Handicap).
The maverick sprinter grabbed 8th position against 8 competitors in his last outing on May 12.
At the moment, the brilliant gelding seems to be in good form that will help him pave his way towards victory convincingly and comfortably. His chances to win are as high as 90 percent.
However, Dubai Dynamo can jeopardise Emilio Largo’s effort to finish first as the Ruth Carr-trained bay gelding poses to be the most experienced of all the runners. The seven-year-old horse has won 10 of his total 75 starts to date.
The talented runner elegantly finished first against 7 rivals in his last outing on May 20, 2012. Capitalising on the form produced by this conquest, Dubai Dynamo will surely make a big impact in today’s Handicap. He can wrest success from Emilio Largo if he manages to take a good start.
Among the other runners, Toto Skyllachy is expected to fight for the second position. The David O’Meara-trained bay gelding accomplished a terrific triumph on May 7, 2012. He went on to finish as a runner-up in his last start on May 15.
Thus, there is likely to be tough tug of war in the Memorial Handicap. The event will draw a big bankroll. Let us go for the amazing action to see who gains what. Good luck to all the runners who are quite ready to run.
