Emily Ann Brunemann wins Women’s 10km title – 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup, Shantou
Emily Ann Brunemann earned gold medal of Women’s 10km race on the sixth stop of the Federation Internationale de Natation scheduled 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup (MSWC) on Sunday, September 25, in Shantou, China.
Ann Brunemann of USA presented a wonderful effort in the 10km discipline by overpowering the efforts of her fellow swimmers with a timing of 2 hours, 04 minutes and 52.41 seconds.
Brunemann was in a lead of 2.31 seconds over her following swimmer, Angela Maurer of Germany, who secured the podium for silver medal, by submitting an effort of 2 hours, 4 minutes and 54.72 seconds. The second position holder was followed by her team-member,
Nadine Reichert, who remained only 1.06 seconds slower than Maurer and traversed the finishing line with a timing of 2 hours, 4 minutes and 55.78 seconds for bronze medal.
In the meantime, the podium finishers were chased by Fang Yanqiao of China, who was nearly three seconds slower than Reichert and settled fourth on the concluding spot by reporting in a time of 2 hours, 04 minutes and 58.71 seconds. Subsequently, Yanqiao
managed a lead of exactly one second over her subsequent competitor, Li Xue, who clocked a fifth best time of 2 hours, 4 minutes and 59.71 seconds.
Then, Yumi Kida of Japan transpired as the sixth fastest finisher of the Marathon swim and posted a time of 2 hours, 5 minutes and 00.82 seconds. Xue’s team-mate, s**+ Yu occupied seventh fastest spot of the event as she remained nearly thirty seconds behind
her former finisher and completed her swim in 2 hours, 05 minutes and 30.22 seconds. Yu was trailed by China’s Liu Shiqing, as she was 1.99 seconds slower than her and produced an effort of 2 hours, 05 minutes and 32.21 seconds for eighth position.
The crowd appreciated the commendable effort of all swimmers in the 10km swim. Furthermore, these participants will compete with each other once again at the last stop of MSWC on October 2. The event will be held in Hong Kong.
