Emily Hovren outperforms in Women’s 200m IM heats: Day three – Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational
Emily Hovren of Club Hawkeye-IA outperformed in the qualifying rounds of Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on day three of the 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational in Nebraska on Sunday, June 10.
The 20-year-old Hovren showed no mercy to her opponents in the four-lap IM event and made her way into the final round as fastest swimmer.
With her astonishing efforts and strong determination, Hovren enjoyed a half body length lead over her opponents and hit the finishing blockade with an effort of 2 minutes and 20.69 seconds.
Her fastest qualification effort was chased by Whitney Burnett of Una FORD-AZ, who remained only 0.40 seconds apart and clocked a timing of 2 minutes and 21.09 seconds to reach the playoff.
Burnett remained just 0.02 seconds lucky from her following swimmer, Tera Bradham of Unattached-AR, who settled on the finishing end as third best finisher with the timing of 2 minutes and 21.11 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Katherine Drabot of Ozaukee Aquatics, who was only 0.03 seconds away from Bradham and qualified into the playoff with the timing of 2 minutes and 21.14 seconds.
The 14-year-old Drabot was chased by Leah Stevens of Lakeside Swim Team, who stayed only 0.31 seconds away from her foregoing finisher and tapped the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 21.45 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth finest spot of the race was secured by Laura Miller of Wisconsin Aquatics, who remained just two strokes away from her preceding swimmer and hit the wall the timing of 2 minutes and 21.84 seconds.
Miller was chased by her teammate, Aja Van Hout, who was 0.56 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 22.40 seconds for seventh position.
Van Hout was trailed by Stephanie Payne of Una KU-MV, who stayed 0.43 seconds behind and finished her swim in eighth best place by posting a time of 2 minutes and 22.83 seconds.
In addition, the crowd enjoyed furious efforts of all participants in the first round while final will take place in the subsequent session of the championship.
