Emily Kopas clinches Women’s 200m breaststroke gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Fort Lauderdale
Emily Kopas of Davie Nadadores clinched gold medal of the Women’s 200m breaststroke on fourth day of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, July 15.
The 15-year-old Kopas showered her expertise in the 200m discipline as she showed her urgency towards the finishing blockade for gold medal.
With her commendable pace, she dominated the distant breaststroke discipline and earned her way to the top of medal rostrum for gold medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 34.42 seconds.
The champion was trailed by Lauren Driscoll of Swim Ft Lauderdale, who stayed almost four seconds apart and settled on the finishing end as second position holder by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 38.31 seconds.
Similarly, the second position holder was chased by Daniell Gordon of Julington Creek, who was also four body lengths apart and occupied bronze medal of the discipline by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 42.65 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Lia N Lombardi of Area Tallahassee, who stayed three body lengths behind and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth position holder by producing a time of 2 minutes and 45.15 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was secured by Carlotta Verita of Fla Aquatics-FG, who stayed one body length behind and submitted a time of 2 minutes and 46.09 seconds.
The 14-year-old Verita was trailed by Lauren A Peavy of Area Tallahassee, who remained 0.81 seconds behind and secured sixth finest spot of the event by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 46.90 seconds.
Subsequently, Peavy was chased by Anne Rademacher of Golden Panther-F, who stayed 0.34 seconds apart and finished her swim in seventh best place by producing a time of 2 minutes and 47.24 seconds.
Eighth position of the discipline was secured by Ali M Lombardi of Area Tallahassee, who remained 0.02 seconds apart and clocked a timing of 2 minutes and 47.26 seconds.
In addition, Kopas expressed contentment over her victory in the four-lap discipline and stated that she would work hard to accomplish the same at upcoming tournaments.
