The chief executive of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), Dilawar Mani, is hopeful about the revival of international cricket in terrorism-hit Pakistan in the near future and said that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE) is always available to host the deprived nation
at cost-effective prices.
Mani said that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has done a lot over the past few months and urged the international cricketing community to regard PCB’s efforts.
"The PCB have to be commended on the efforts they have made to get cricket back to Pakistan", said Mani while talking to the media reporters.
Mani’s statement gives a positive message to all other cricketing nations to move ahead to play cricket in Pakistan. The ECB chief further added that it is in Pakistan’s interest to host matches in their own country.
Pakistan has been deprived of hosting international cricket since March 2009, after the terrorists attacked visiting Sri Lankan cricket team’s bus in Lahore.
In this attack, eight people were killed while seven Sri Lankan players along with their assistant coach were injured.
Following the incident, the Pakistani team has been playing their home series at neutral venues, mostly in UAE.
The last home series that Pakistan had played at a neutral venue was against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 hosted by UAE in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
PCB has been suffering from financial crisis, as they have been denied to play home series in their country for a long time.
The relocating, postponing and canceling of the home series resulted in the losses of up to US$125 million at the end of 2009.
PCB has been putting in continuous efforts to bring international cricket back in the country and they have successfully hosted a One-Day series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Afghanistan-c745 where Pakistan A whitewashed the tourists in a three-match ODI series.
Looking at the unstable security conditions, the Sri Lankan team has recently refused to play a series in Pakistan citing security concerns.
According to ICC’s Future tour programme, Pakistan will play its home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 in January and February, next year.
The venues for both the series have not been decided yet.
