Emirates NBD to sponsor Melissa Reid
In a not so surprising move, Emirates NDB has announced that it will sponsor Melissa Reid, the rising golfer from England.
Emirates NDB is a well known supporter of golf and has sponsored many golf tournaments across the world. Recently, the bank is focusing on the GCC region and has been instrumental in promoting golf in the region.
The bank has developed an initiative to promote golf worldwide. Known as “Passion for Golf”, this strategy is based on golf events held throughout the year at various courses across the world. The main emphasis of the initiative is on the GCC region, where
golf is now a popular sport.
The flagship tournaments of “Passion for Golf” are Omega Dubai Desert Classic and Omega Dubai Ladies Masters. These two events have become the mainstay of the golf culture of the region.
Talking about the bank’s efforts, Vikram Krishna, Head of Group Marketing & Branding said, "Golf is a sport that we share a long-standing passion for at Emirates NBD, and it is only fitting that we sponsor young players who are making a mark in the game”.
Melissa Reid is the perfect choice for this initiative. The 24-year-old golfer is a well known star of the LET circuit and has posted some impressive scores in the recent tournaments.
She has four pro titles to her credit and is considered to be the next superstar to replace Laura Davies.
She is also ideal for another section of the Emirates NBD’s initiative for golf. The bank is very keen to promote golf in the youth. To achieve this aim, the bank has sponsored various youth tournaments.
The most important activity in this regards is the Emerging World Youth Golf Tour. This tour will be held in St. Andrews, Scotland.
Melissa Reid is the perfect ambassador to promote golf in the youth. She had a great amateur career and with the Emirates NBD’s endorsement behind her, she will be a perfect icon for the young golfers.
Commenting on the move, Melissa Reid said, "I have a close affinity with the United Arab Emirates; I enjoy playing regularly there, and this only strengthens the link further".
