Emirates Stadium touted as the Premier League’s House of Horrors
Arsenal midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international’s comments come in the wake of the disappointing draw against Manchester City here on Wednesday.
Manchester City arrived at the Emirates stadium seemingly aiming for a 0-0 scoreline. The Citizens were content to sit back in defence for the duration of the match, much to the irritation of the home crowd. City held the Gunners to a 0-0 draw thanks to
the combination of some stubborn defending and the crossbar. Many fans and pundits have criticized Roberto Mancini’s negative approach to the game, and Jack Wilshere is the latest to poke fun at the Manchester City manager’s tactics.
Speaking on the match, the Arsenal midfielder said, “We just have to learn to break teams down. City's approach was a credit to us and the way we play. Teams come here and they are scared and want to defend. There are going to be a lot of teams who come
here and defend and we have to learn to break them down."
The England international, who also featured in the match against City, is now looking forward to a tough F.A cup tie against Leeds on Saturday. Wilshire added, “Leeds will bring loads of supporters and they'll be up for it, so we have to make sure we are
up for it, not do anything silly and hopefully progress to the next round.”
After Wednesday’s draw, Arsenal find themselves in third place, four points behind leaders Manchester United. It is worth noting that the Red Devils still have a game in hand, so their lead could conceivably widen to seven points in the near future. However,
Wilshire remains optimistic of his side’s chances of winning their first Barclays Premier League crown in over five years.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal can finally end their trophy drought, but for now, Arsene Wenger will be fully focused on the F.A cup tie against Leeds. Arsenal will be looking to bounce back from Wednesday’s disappointment, while Leeds will be hoping
to pull off a shock win against their former Premier League rivals. All signs point to a cracking encounter on Saturday.
