Emiyna claims the Athasi Stakes with a spectacular performance – Horse Racing Update
It was a good day for the fans and connections of the filly Emiyna, as she gave a very impressive performance to win the Group 3 event named Starspangledbanner EBF Athasi Stakes that took place on Monday at the Curragh race-course.
This race was run over a distance of seven furlongs and was contended by fillies and mares of age three and above.
The race was very intriguing towards the end as the two champion fillies Emiyna and Lolly For Dolly went on to struggle against each other. Emiyna was successful in holding off her arch rival and compatriot Lolly For Dolly in just the last furlong of the
race. She was sent off as a 5-2 favourite for the race.
As the event started, the winner of the race under her jockey Johnny Murtagh was amongst the last few contenders on the field. As the race progressed, she built up her pace and smoothly made it to the lead during the last furlong. She is the trainee of the
famed trainer John Oxx.
It was seen during the race, that the winner of the race was more than determined to hold off her younger rival. The race was a very close competition between the four year old Lolly For Dolly and Emiyna. Nonetheless, the former colt did not give up on the
first spot until the end of the race and went on to stay in the line of competition.
Emiyna did not compromise on the lead once she got into it. Meanwhile Lolly For Dolly conveniently finished the race in the second spot. She was sent out to contend the race as a 7-2 favourite. On the other hand, the third place finisher was Seeharn, who
was a rather consistent competitor of the race and was sent off as a 5-1 favourite.
He is the trainee of the famed trainer Aidan O’ Brien could not make it to the first three places. She was a 7-2 favourite for the Curragh meeting and silently faded away in the final quarter mile.
