Emma Grayson of Beaver Sailing Club wins 2011 Mirror Open, Rachel Grayson hits second spot
Last event of 2011 Northern Travellers, the 2011 Mirror Open, finished successfully at the Beaver Sailing Club as Emma Grayson of the host club stood out as the overall topper of the fleet. Grayson finished on top of the standings after winning two races
along with a second place, which was a discard, by two points. Rachel Grayson from the host club finished second with a two-point difference by four points.
The first race commenced under moderated wind conditions, which was enough for a sound sail. Rachel Grayson managed to beat Emma towards the windward mark and finished first, ahead of Emma and third placed, Will Hide. The first race victory proved to be
an advantage for Rachel, as she moved to second race with hopes to hit top podium at the end of the event.
However, her hopes ended when Emma bounced back in the second race and with the help of some excellent sailing around the windward mark, she managed to nudge Rachel down at a fifth place finish. Meanwhile, Will Hide was able to clinch second place.
Beaver Sailing Club’s Emma was in a strong position after two races and she extended her lead to win the event by winning the third and final race of Mirror Open. Hide again took second place, followed by Rachel at third podium finish. In the overall standings
after three races including one discard, Emma Grayson grabbed first podium followed by Rachel Grayson and Will Hide on second and third spots, respectively.
The overall standings at the end of the event are given below:
1. 70015 Emma Grayson, Beaver Sailing Club (2.5), 1, 1 = 2 points
