Two young Australian guns, Emma Jennifer Mckeon and Robert John Hurley splashed hard and clinched the Women’s 50m freestyle and Men’s 400m freestyle titles over their rivals at the sixth meet of the seven-stop 2011 FINA World Cup in Beijing, China.
Jennifer Mckeon was competing with Olympic medallist, Therese Alshammar of Sweden and Campbell Cata Natalie of Australia in a vital match. Mckeon got off to a flying start and went full throttle by touching the finishing cordon in a breathtaking mark of
24.15 seconds to win the Women’s 50m freestyle title. After the race, Alshammar pocked silver medal in a mark of 24.16 seconds and Natalie settled for bronze title in a time of 24.26 seconds.
HALICEK Olivia Maree of Australia got fourth position by clicking the finishing wall in a time of 24.64 seconds, while Merindah Meroo Dingjan of Australia earned fifth position in a time of 24.75 seconds.
In addition, Trickett Lisbeth Constance of Australia picked sixth spot in a mark of 24.96 seconds and Wen Xu of China settled at seventh position in a time of 25.18 seconds. Finally, Wenrui Zhu of China earned eighth place honours by touching the finishing
fence in a mark of 25.46 seconds.
In the meantime, the Men’s 400m freestyle title was taken over by Robert John Hurley of Australia in a fastest time of 3 minutes and 41.93 seconds. China’s Yun Hao earned silver title in a mark of 3 minutes and 42.13 seconds, while China’s Jun Dai secured
bronze medal by clicking the finishing wall in a time of 3 minutes and 44.60 seconds.
Moreover, Zhongchao Zhang of China pocked fourth place in a time of 3 minutes and 46.30 seconds and Yuhui Jiang of China was settled at fifth position in a mark of 3 minutes and 47.75 seconds.
Additionally, Chen Ren of China was placed sixth spot in a blot of 3 minutes and 50.48 seconds and Haiqi Jiang of China earned seventh place honours in 3 minutes and 51.76 seconds. Last, but not the least, the eighth spot went to Yinghua Qiu of China in
a time of 3 minutes and 52.12 seconds.
