Emma Pooley wins the second stage of the Emakumeen Euskal Bira 2012
Emma Pooley f Team AA Drink-Leontien.nl is having a dry season with not many victories in her bag during the 2012 season.
The cyclist is currently seen in action at the Emakumeen Euskal BIra 2012 and she has managed to find the top of the podium during the second stage of the race.
She started the race slowly and managed the 66th overall spot during the 97.1 kilometre race opener and came back strong at the 97.8 kilometre stage 2 of the event.
She crossed the finish line in a quickest time of 2 hours, 35 minutes and 31 second and occupied the top podium spot.
Annemiek Van Vleuten of Team Stitching-Rabo Women finished 20 seconds behind at the second position while Trixi Worrack of Team Specialized lululemon, Emma Johansson of Team Hitec Products-Mistral Home and Alena Amialiusik of Team Be Pink achieved the next
three spots.
Emma started her professional crusade with Team Fat Birds UK in 2006 and spent a period of one year with the side.
She also represented Team Specialized Designs for Women (2007-08), Team Cervelo Test Team (2009-10), and Team Garmin-Cervelo (2011) before finally accepting an offer from Team AA Drink-Leontien.nl for the 2012 season.
The 29-year-old has a magnificent record with an Olympics Silver medal in her bag along with a gold and a bronze medal during the 2010 and 2011 UCI Road World Championships respectively.
Pooley topped the point’s classifications at the race with a total number of 25 UCI points to her credit, Annemiek Van Vleuten of Team Stitching –Rabo Women and Trixi Worrack of Team Specialized lululemon achieving the second and the third position s with
20 and 16 points.
Christi Ferrier of Team Hitec Products-Mistral Home succeeded during the first and the second mountains of the race while Emma Pooley dominated the second and the fourth climbs.
Emma has now jumped up to the top overall position after the stage 2 classifications with a lead of 8 seconds over Annemiek Van Vleuten of Team Stitching-Rabo Women.
Trixi Worrack, Alena Amialiusik and Emma Johansson are holding the third, the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
Stage 1 winner Ina Yoko Teutenberg of Team Specialized Lululemon finished the race at the 37th position and has now dropped to 32nd overall spot after the second stage.
