Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor currently on loan to Tottenham Hotspur has revealed he is certain he will be fit for the north London derby against Arsenal, which happens to be his former club.
It was revealed by manager Harry Redknapp that he feared he would be without several key players, including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 for the clash against Arsenal in the English Premier League. However, it now seems the 27-year-old will be present for the north
London derby.
Adebayor stated on his Twitter:
“Just finished training, really happy with the progress, knee is looking much better. Working on my fitness for Sunday.”
Along with Emmanuel Adebayor, Rafael van der Vaart was believed to be sidelined for the fixture with a calf injury. He too has also revealed hopes of being fit for the clash on Sunday, admitting he felt better and hoped to make an appearance for the Spurs.
Van der Vaart said while speaking to reporters:
“I'm recovering well from my injury
I expect to be joining the team training next Wednesday after which I will start to focus on the match against Arsenal. I'll be happy to play Arsenal. I can't wait.”
The upcoming fixture against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 is important for Tottenham Hotspur in various aspects, not only is it a derby, it could very well determine who will end up at third place on the English Premier League table. Tottenham Hotspur are currently third place
on the table but a loss could help towards their failure to secure a Champions League position.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Dawson-c25288, the Tottenham Hotspur defender, urged his side to focus on the upcoming clash rather than the draw at Lamex Stadium. He felt the Spurs had to focus on the Premier League fixtures against Arsenal and then Manchester United to ensure they retained
their top three position on the table.
Dawson said in an interview with the official website:
“The pitch was a little bobbly and things didn't go how we wanted them to. We had to dig deep and we're still in the cup - that's what matters.
We've now got Arsenal and United - huge games in the Premier League and we'll look forward to the FA Cup replay when it comes along.”
