Real Madrid’s loaned striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, has claimed that he might consider a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer despite the racist chants aimed at him earlier in the season when Madrid travelled to White Hart Lane.
Adebayor’s loan contract with Real Madrid expires in the summer, but he has already stated that he has no intention of returning to his parent, club Manchester City. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Togo-c3022 International is looking for other prospective employers, and English Premier League
club, Tottenham Hotspur, are one of the teams that make his list.
The striker was on the verge of moving to White Hart Lane in this year’s January Transfer window, however, he turned down the offer for a loan spell at Real Madrid. Adebayor was a part of the Real Madrid squad that thrashed the Spurs 4-0 at Santiago Bernabeu
in the first-leg of UEFA Champions League quarter-final between the two sides.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 man scored two goals for Real Madrid in that encounter, something that made him the target of racist chants by the travelling Tottenham supporters. The Spurs fans chanted distasteful songs, which included the line: “Your dad washes elephants”
– something which Adebayor considers a racist remark.
Tottenham Hotspur officials condemned the song, but they insist that it is not racist in nature. UEFA confirmed after the match that no action would be taken against the London club for the incident. However, the entire affair has had left a bad taste in
Adebayor’s mouth.
Speaking on the matter, the striker said, “I heard about the chants and I felt so bad because before joining Real Madrid, my first choice was Tottenham. When I heard the songs I didn't take it seriously. I didn't take it in a bad way at all but it was bad
because people today have to realise that we are footballers. Today we play for this club and the next day we might end up playing for them.”
He added, "But I would go there and sign for them (Tottenham Hotspur).”
Will Adebayor join Spurs in the summer transfer window? We will have to wait and see.
