Emmanuel Adebayor not planning to return to Manchester City after helping Tottenham Hotspur win
Manchester City striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Togo-c3022 international scored the opening goal for his side in their 2-0 win over Wolverhampton
Wanderers over the weekend.
Adebayor returns to the English Premier League, making his first appearance on Saturday after being loaned out to Real Madrid for the latter half of last season. He was in terrific form for the Spurs, but insisted he was not giving a good performance to
impress Manchester City.
Adebayor said while speaking to reporters:
“I have nothing to prove to Manchester City. Everyone in this country knows what I am capable of doing.
I showed it with Arsenal, I showed it on my debut with Manchester City and I showed that again for Tottenham.”
The Togolese forward said he was certain the club were aware of exactly what he was capable of when they had bought him in the summer of 2009. Before his move to Manchester City, Adebayor had spent three seasons with Arsenal, where he had scored 46 goals
in 105 English Premier League appearances.
Adebayor revealed he had fallen out of favour after the arrival of manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 striker insisted he had nothing but respect for the Italian manager, since he considered himself a professional
footballer.
However, Adebayor admitted it was highly unlikely that he would return to Manchester City after his season long loan spell with the Spurs came to an end next season. According to him the “love between” the two parties had broken because of which a reunion
did not seem possible.
Adebayor said:
“Listen, it is too early to stay but the love between the club and myself is broke.
I am here (Tottenham) for a season and at the end of the season I will still have two more years left of my contract.”
He does, however, still have two years remaining on his contract with Manchester City. Adebayor insisted he was focusing on his form for Tottenham Hotspur and was not too concerned with the future, he claimed he had plenty of time to decide on his future.
The striker felt he had been treated unfairly by Manchester City, who seemed to have decided he was not good enough to be in the squad after paying as much as £25 million to sign him from Arsenal. For now though, Adebayor said he intended to focus entirely
on helping the Spurs achieve their aims this season.
He continued:
"I am just delighted to have the chance to now play 90 minutes and to have the trust of the manager (Harry Redknapp) when I go out.”
