Reports confirm that former Manchester City and Arsenal striker has signed with the Spanish side Real Madrid. The club’s official website announced, “Real Madrid C. F. and Manchester City FC have reached a deal that will see Emmanuel Adebayor play on loan
for the former club. The player will remain at Real Madrid until the end of the current season, at which point the Club hold a unilateral option to purchase the player.”
The La Liga side were keeping a close eye on the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044. When it became apparent that it would be difficult to bring in Drogba, the Spanish giants closed in on Adebayor, who has had a somewhat troublesome career
in the English Premier League. Adebayor has all the qualities of a good striker; he’s tall, strong and possesses good pace. An eye for goal and aerial ability make him a threat in the opposition’s half.
Adebayor arrived at Arsenal in 2006 and despite maintaining a decent form and goal tally, the striker left for Manchester City in the summer of 2009. However, he had to compete with the likes of Carlos Tevez in City, for the striker spot, and was clearly
no match for the Argentinean. Manchester City's new signing Edin Dzeko might also have played a part in this move, as the Bosnian footballer's services were acquired to reinforce City's already swarming attack, further destabilizing Adebayor's stay there.
He can expect to get first team football at Santiago Bernabeu as Madrid’s first choice striker Gonzalo Higuain is out for the remainder of the season. He underwent surgery to fix a slipped disc, forcing Madrid coach Jose Mourinho to look for a replacement.
With Adebayor’s arrival Mourinho can hope to strengthen his squad and remain in the race for the La Liga crown, which seems like it will be going to Barcelona yet again.
However, Adebayor’s arrival could make the difference. The Togo striker has a knack for scoring, it was in his first 21st minutes for the Gunners that he scored his first goal for them. He played an essential part in the Gunners reaching the Champions
League final, which they lost unfortunately. Adebayor has an impressive goal tally of 62 goals while at Arsenal, which was for about three and a half seasons. He was not as successful at Manchester City under manager Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323; he managed to score 14
in his first season with the club and so far has managed five in his 12 appearances for the club.
