Emmanuel Adebayor to lead Real Madrid charge against Sporting Gijon – La Liga news
Real Madrid striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 looks doubtful because of an injury.
The battle for the La Liga glory in the ongoing 2010-11 season appears to be a two-way one. Currently, Real Madrid are placed second in the La Liga standings and trail Barcelona by 5 points. With 9 games still to be played in the season, the title race is
far from over.
Injury to striker Karim Benzema is a big blow for Real Madrid as he was in brilliant goal-scoring form for the Los Blancos. With Gonzalo Higuain also on the sidelines, Real manager Jose Mourinho has just one recognised striker available in Adebayor.
Officially, Adebayor is a Manchester City player but is currently on loan to Real Madrid. Since his arrival to the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in the January 2011 transfer window, the player has made 9 appearances and has scored 2 goals in the process.
Adebayor has stated that he wants to be successful with Real Madrid and help them win the Spanish league come the end of the season.
He told Real Madrid TV, “We have nine games to go, we have to win all those games to start dreaming of the title.”
If Adebayor manages to be on the score sheet against Sporting Gijon, he will certainly help himself in making his loan move permanent at Madrid.
Real manager Mourinho does have some concerns before the match against Gijon. Besides the injuries to his strike duo of Benzema and Higuain, the Portuguese is also without Brazilian full-back Marcelo Vieira da Silva while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Xabi-Alonso-c37045
is suspended for the match.
Real Madrid will be hoping to collect maximum points against Gijon and certainly will keep half an eye on Barcelona as the Catalan club faces a tricky test against Villarreal.
