Adebayor is known to not get along with Manchester City manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 could convince him to stay.
If that is indeed the case then there is a chance that Adebayor will have to take a pay-cut since the Spurs will be unavailable to match his current salary. The Spurs boss made it very clear that it would be the case if the 27-year-old wants a move to White Hart Lane next season.
Redknapp said while speaking to reporters:
“He has done well for us. He has worked hard but he is on amazing money.”
The manager jokingly reiterated an anecdote, which showed just how much the former Arsenal forward was paid more than the rest of the players at the club. He hinted that the Togolese could expect a smaller pay check if he made the move permanent.
Redknapp revealed:
“The other week, one of the lads told him that he had not paid his £50 fine for being the worst player in training on a Friday morning. One of the lads said to him: 'Bloody h**l, Ade, you are on 200 grand a week and you can't afford to pay a £50 fine!' He replied: 'Don't insult me, it's 225!'”
The Englishman was adamant Adebayor would have to take a pay cut to remain with the Spurs next season. He will have to do a lot to convince the striker who has gone on to score nine goals and provide seven assists in 17 matches in all competitions.
He continued:
“He certainly isn't getting that here.”
