Manchester City striker currently on loan to Tottenham Hotspur http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 has urged his side to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Arsenal with a win over Manchester United at the weekend.
Third place Tottenham Hotspur went to the Emirates confident of a win over struggling side Arsenal and completing a double for the first time in 19 years. Unfortunately for them, they lost 5-2 to the Gunners who made an amazing comeback at home.
The defeat was not only humiliating; it has also put on hold Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of securing the English Premier League title. They currently trail league leaders Manchester City by ten points and will now be better off if they just focus on third
place.
It was Adebayor, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 striker, who scored his side’s second goal from the penalty spot on Sunday. However, the two goals were not enough to stop the Gunners and the forward admitted his side could have done better.
Adebayor said while speaking to reporters:
"If you want to be champions these games against the likes of Manchester United are the kind of games we have to be winning.
The Arsenal game has been a tough one, the defeat is very heavy, but we have to carry on.”
While Adebayor was not necessarily happy with an Arsenal win, he admitted the hosts had been the better side. He revealed they had been motivated to secure a win and managed to do so, but instead of dwelling on the past Adebayor urged his side to look forward.
Next weekend, Tottenham Hotspur take on Manchester United in a fixture that could prove to be crucial in the English Premier League title race.
He revealed:
“After my penalty I thought game was over, but they showed good character, played some good football and came back so congratulations to Arsenal. Unfortunately we didn't manage to beat them but the season is long, we just have to keep focused and keep
going.
After losing 5-2 to Arsenal we can't ask for a bigger challenge than playing Manchester United, but we are looking forward to it.”
