Emmanuel Adebayor wants to stays at Manchester City
Manchester City’s striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, still wants to remain a part of Manchester City, as he desires to go nowhere. The Togo international says that his dressing room problems with his manager are a sign of his commitment to the club and bringing
victory to his team.
Adebayor still has it in him, as he proved it in the midweek Europa League match against Lech Poznan. Adebayor scored all three goals for Manchester City, as they beat their opponents by 3-1. This was a great performance by the striker, as he was severely
lacking in match fitness. This has largely been due to Roberto Mancini’s, Manchester City manager, decisions that have kept Adebayor on the bench for most of the season.
Adebayor has made only three starts in this season, one in the English Premier League while he started twice in UEFA Europa League. However, he has been brought on as a substitute on four occasions in the Premier League. Therefore, the striker has not been
in his best form, as he has scored no goals in the Premier League. But, he recently proved that it is not because of his poor form, but because of the fact that he has not been getting enough time to prove himself. His hat-trick in the midweek clearly shows
that the striker has not lost his clinical touch that he used to display often, when he was playing for Arsenal.
Nevertheless, Adebayor still thinks that he is suitable only for Manchester City. The striker still has a desire to prove himself to his manager and fans, as he does not want to leave the club in the future. Although, there are many instances where Adebayor
has been involved in a scuffle with his manager, but the striker believes that these problems show that he is still committed to Manchester City’s cause.
There are rumours that Adebayor might not stay at Manchester City, especially after he has been involved in direct confrontations with his manager. The striker himself wants to stay at City, and he wants to make his career with his club. But, Mancini seems
to have different plans for Adebayor, who is nothing but an extra player in his squad. Adebayor only gets a chance when Carlos Tevez needs rest or his other seasoned players are not on a playing fitness level.
An indication of Mancini’s attitude towards Adebayor was shown during the weekend’s match against Arsenal. Despite of scoring three goals in the midweek, Mancini kept Adebayor on the bench, and did not bring him in until the 50th minute. At that
point, Tevez was already showing some problems because of the heavy tackling he suffered during the match. Although, Adebayor has played well against his former team, he did not get a start in Mancini’s starting XI.
Emmanuel Adebayor seems to be uncertain about his future at Manchester City. Sometimes, he seems totally dejected with Mancini’s behaviour, as he has given statements in the past showing a desire to leave the club. On other occasions, Adebayor has shown
his desire to make his way back into City’s squad, by impressing his manager with his game. But, despite of saying these things in the past, Mancini has made up his mind not to give him any chance to prove himself. As a result, the situation stays where it
was three months ago, and there are no signs of improvements in the relationship.
It would be better for Adebayor to finally make up his mind regarding his future. The message from Mancini is clear. He wants his player to start looking for new opportunities, as he does not want himself to get involved in any kind of transfer drama. In
short, Adebayor should accept that his time at Manchester City is over, and he should go to another club, which can really make use of his strengths and abilities.
