Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor, currently on loan to Tottenham Hotspur, revealed he was certain he had won over the London side fans after scoring two goals in the 4-0 win over Liverpool at White Hart Lane. It was predicted that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Togo-c3022 international
would have a hard time winning the fans over since he was a former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 player, but Adebayor seems to have already accomplished that feat.
After being told by Manchester City manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 that his services were no longer required at the club, the 27-year-old striker spent the latter half of last season on loan to La Liga giants Real Madrid. Upon returning to Manchester City, Adebayor
decided to join Tottenham Hotspur on a season long move, which he knew would ensure him regular first team football.
The Togolese forward got off to a brilliant start with his new side, scoring on his debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Adebayor has continued his goal scoring form, finding the back of the net twice against Liverpool on Sunday. He revealed he was extremely
happy with scoring at White Hart Lane, having already scored away from home in his first match for the Spurs.
Adebayor said in an interview:
“I'm very happy, very delighted.
It's always important to score your first goal at home. I have done it already away.”
Adebayor felt he had joined Tottenham Hotspur at a crucial time, with the team in desperate need of a consistent goal-scorer. The former Arsenal forward was certain he had already won the Spurs fans over and felt he had to continue on with his goal-scoring
form to make sure he retained their support. Adebayor admitted he was extremely happy with the Spurs.
He revealed:
“I know the fans all love me because that's what they're looking for, a player who can score goals.
I'm very happy that everything is going well for me at this club.”
With the player having spent half a season with Real Madrid under manager Jose Mourinho, Adebayor revealed the Portuguese boss had a big role in his decision to move to Tottenham Hotspur on a loan move in the summer transfer window. While he was initially
linked with a permanent move to Real Madrid, the striker revealed the move was not possible since the management at the club were not too keen on his arrival.
Adebayor said:
“I had discussion with Mourinho about the move. He told me 'you have to think of your career and if you have a chance to go to Spurs go out there, score goals and enjoy yourself again on the football pitch'.”
When asked about the abuse Adebayor was subjected to while playing for Real Madrid against Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League last season, the Togo international revealed he had forgiven the fans. He insisted that he would not have joined the
club if he did not feel the incident was behind him. Real Madrid defeated Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter-finals of the European competition, with Adebayor scoring two goals.
He added:
"For me it is forgiven. You know, if I didn't forgive anybody, trust me, I would not be wearing the Tottenham shirt today.”
