Emmanuel Adebayor’s agent talks up his client – English Premier League news
Emmanuel Adebayor’s agent, Phil Smith, believes that the striker will be a target for many of the biggest clubs in Europe during the summer transfer window.
Adebayor has endured a torrid time with Manchester City, having fallen out of favor in recent seasons with the arrival of high profile strikers at the club. The Togo international does not fit in the long term plans of Manchester City manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323.
The striker has been longing for regular football, and he got his wish in January.
Adebayor is currently a Manchester City player, though he spent a large part of the recently concluded 2010/11 season on loan with Spanish giants, Real Madrid. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Togo-c3022 international was brought in by Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho, in the second half of
the season as a replacement for the injured Gonzalo Higuain. The striker enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Galacticos, and he has made no secret of his desire to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
A permanent move to the Spanish giants does not seem to be on the cards for Adebayor. However, it is almost certain that the striker will be leaving Manchester City in the summer.
The player’s agent, Phil Smith, believes that Adebayor’s situation with the Sky Blues came about due to the club’s rapid development. He said, “At the time he was brought as a direct replacement for Samuel Eto’o who didn’t come [to Manchester City]. It was
their development phase and most clubs move quite slowly in developing like that but City have, well it’s there for all to see. He’s almost a victim in that respect of them developing a bit faster and quicker than some other clubs.”
However, Smith added there will be no shortage of suitors for the player’s signature in the summer transfer window, provided that Manchester City are willing to part with him. He said, “He’s got a reputation for being able to play in Europe, he’s gone on
to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world. I’m not sure if he is going to go back to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Madrid but he is certainly in demand but he’s earning a lot of money.”
Adebayor’s fate will become clearer in the coming weeks but a return to the City of Manchester can certainly be ruled out.
