The Argentine striker had a difficult start to the new campaign but has slowly started showing his true colours for Montpellier Herault and has received much praise from Rene Girard and Louis Nicollin
After displaying his best performance for Montpellier Herault in the Champions League game against German giants Schalke 04, Argentine striker, Emmanuel Herrera has shown the world that he has what it takes to become a successful striker in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899.
After a fairly good preseason for La Paillade, the 25-year-old was quickly labelled as a flop signing of the summer. However, the same can also be said of Montpellier squad in general given the way they have started their title defence. Furthermore, Herrera
is playing his first season in Europe so he must have been given time to settle down first.
And, signs are ominous that the striker is finding his feet in Ligue 1 for his new side. Last week, the Argentine scored a good goal against OGC Nice in the quarterfinals of Coupe de la Ligue and last night, he scored his side’s goal in the 1-1 draw against
German Bundesliga side Schalke 04, who have already qualified for the next round of the UEFA Champions League.
More than his goal, Herrera’s overall performance was great. Involved in all offensive moves for his side, the Argentine striker also created a lot of opportunities for himself and for his teammates – something which is a mark of a great striker.
After poor performances, Herrera has seemingly found his true level, something that coach Rene Girard observed and commented on during the press conference after the game. The French tactician says that Herrera is regaining his level but it does not surprise
him much to see the striker play so well.
“Manu is regaining his level after a difficult start, but I’m half surprised. We probably didn’t have indulgence and patience with him at first. Tonight he created four or five opportunities and he could have won the game all by himself.”
And, president Louis Nicollin was also there to defend his summer signing and said that people should give the striker a year before they start calling him a flop.
“Herrera does not speak French. He has come from far away, we need to give him a year before you can say if he is a failure.”
