Question:

Emperor Scorpion asleep or dying

All day today my emp has been in his hideaway with his claws down and his tail curled up next to him, and hasn't been moving much. He was fed yesterday, has plenty of water in his dish and appears alert, since I lifted up the lid to the cage and he looked startled. I'm assuming that he is sleeping, but I want to make sure that he isn't ill. The outside temperature has been in the low 90s, so I figured he'd be rather active, but instead he's just been laying around all day. Last night he was very active, though, and maybe it wore him out or something. This is my first time owning a scorp, and I've only had him a few days, so I'm a bit nervous, lol.

  1. don't bug him. he is probaby getting ready to shed. if you just bought him he night not have been being fed very much in the pet shop and you just gave him his first big meal.  let him rest and hide and digest his food and maybe shed.  you should also know that scorpions are not supposed to be active during the day because they are nocturnal so don't expect to see him out until it starts getting dark.

don't leave his aquarium in the sun or a hot spot. he has to be able to get out of the heat. give him a place to get warm and  a cool dark place. lots of people kill their scorpions because they think they are supposed to be in the heat all the time and they roast them. even desert species have to stay cool and thats why they burrow under rocks and stuff.
