Only two days after having a formal discussion, a disgruntle employee quits giving only a weeks notice. In the past the employee has been very defense when approached with concerns, issues, or suggestions. 5 mths previous it was documented they were not happy with their position and wanted more but currently no opportunities for advancement. So....now they are saying their boss yelled at them, etc. and insisting on an exit interview. (Which is their right but emailed and called concerning it multiple times in short period even after told HR person gone on vacation. Some concerns may be valid but the impression was given the employee is going to try to discredit boss in order to defend themself. How much weight will HR give to their concerns, etc.?

  1. depends on how much of it is true and how much is BS

  2. Probably not much.

  3. I agree with trees

  4. I would say it may depend on the reputation of the employee and the boss.  Who has more credibility in the company?  Are there other complaints about the boss?  Is there documentation of the employee's work habits?

I don't know if anyone will have a good answer for you. I guess you'll have to wait and see.  Good luck.
