"Second year from date of first employment aged over 18 : minimum wage - €7.79

http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/employment/employment-rights-and-conditions/pay-and-employment/pay_inc_min_wage

so, I was working in a job up until last month, I was fired a week before my 21st birthday. does the "first year" start from 18 to 19 to 20, and then from 20 that counts as the start of the "third year"?

just wanna make sure, my boss is finding every way possible to not pay me!!

thanks

  1. I thought once your over 18 your entitled to the min wage of €8.65 per hour, regardless of how long you've worked somewhere.

How anyone can survive of €8.65 per hour is beyond me, unless your living at home with no bills, I don't even think your boss can pay you below the min wage while your on 'trail', usually for the first 6 months of employment

If your boss is not paying you the minimum find another employer, because thats just not on and report him on your way out.

  2. I dont know since I'm not from there, but  you have no answers so I just wanted to say hi!!!

  3. Hi!

I would suggest ringing the Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment - http://www.entemp.ie/employment/rights/ as they are helpful and will put you in the right direction.  I rang them before when I was working in HR and they are helpful.  I wouldn't let it go.  Employers can be ruthless and can't be allowed to get away with this.
