Question:

Employees getting fired?

okay so i work in at giant, (a supermarket) and when a person buys groceries, sometimes they are given coupons. the coupons are given out based on what they previously bought (as on record from their points card they use to get the sales) some employees take coupons meant for customers, as they have been left behind or simply they just take them. the thing is...the employer can find out if your using coupons that arent yours if they dont match up to the points card you are using. if this happens you can get in trouble.recently a couple people have been fired for this...and theres more to come. i'm a little worried bc i took a coupon like a month ago... thing is-- i didnt use it, i left it on the kitchen table and my mom used it. if they've been watching the tapes to find bad employees, theres no reason why i would get in trouble right? cause its not like on the tape using the coupon...plus it was only 1 coupon. technically they have no proof i stole anything, right?

  1. One coupon here and there is no big deal.   What your coworkers were fired for was coupon fraud--where they used sooooo many coupons that were not meant for them.   Do no sweat one coupon.

  2. If it's just one coupon it would be presumptuous of them to assume you stole it from a customer instead of your mom's friend having given it to her. Don't do it again though or it might add up.

  3. Just don't get so anxious about it that you'll look suspicious. These other people were probably using a c**p-load of coupons, so it was easy to catch. I think it would be a lot more difficult to track 1 coupon, ya know?

  4. If you share the same last name as your mom I'd give it a 10% chance that they could figure it out.   If it was a one time incident over a month ago, you are  99% sure to have no problems.  There are probably thousands of coupons redemed weekly.

Unless your mom used your pounts card when she used the coupon...
