So many companies advetise on all the job websites that they are hiring and looking for employees. There is no contact name or number. There is only a orange button that say "apply now" And the only follow up that is ever received is a automatic generated email response saying " we have recieved your resume and review it and get back to you" Yet you never hear back from them. Why is this? I have been looking for a job for almost three months and nothing is happening.....

  1. You know I completely agree with you.  I have been looking to off and on for past few yrs, and the internet services such as monster and careerbuilder have enough jobs posted on there to staff the whole darn world yet we do not hear back from them.  I also noticed when you apply you have to wait few months to even hear back from them because the hiring process just takes that long.  Everytime i have looked on the net, it takes me average of 6 months to land a position i apply for.  The best advice i can give you is to apply to the company directly using their own website because employers have something called application status where you can check the visibility of your application rather than an automated message.  And also attend alot of career fairs, in person.

  2. The response is most likely automatically generated. If you aren't hearing back, chances are you aren't qualified. I wouldn't think too much of it as it took me 6 months-year to get a job when I was unemployed. The companies are doing that because they don't want people calling or having to respond to emails/worry about emails getting lost.
