Question:

Employment Interview Questions?

I had a job interview today that I think went pretty well, but there were a few questions that sort of tripped me up. I'm just looking for advice for the future on how to better reply when faced with similar questions.

The first one I came up with was just a statement: "Tell me a little bit about yourself." What kind of response are they looking for?

Another one was: "Tell me about your organizational skills."

And I think the last one I'm mildly interested in knowing about is the usual: "What are your strengths and weaknesses?"

Again, I think I did fairly well in the interview. I'm just looking for insight, for the future. Thanks in advance.

  1. For all questions, make sure your answer relates back to the job you are applying to. For 'tell me about yourself', answer in a way that shows you have the skills and experience necessary for the job and the desire to excel at the position, maybe even further develop professionally in the field you are applying to.

Tell me about your organizational skills: Describe a time where you were very organized and how you had good results because of it. You can also describe what you do to stay organized - prioritize, manager time well, if you keep a planner or use a computerized system.

For strengths - say something that relates to the job, like communication skills, organizational skills, computer skills, sales skills, etc.

For weaknesses - admit to something, but not something that will prevent you from getting the job. If you are applying to retail, you can say you want to work on your public speaking skills, or organizational skills. Also say how what you are doing to work on this skill or how you have recently improved on this skill.
