Employment in Copenhagen Denmark?

Question

Hello, I am wondering if anyone could help me.

1. What are the best ways to look for employment in Copenhagen Denmark, when you don't speak or read danish?

2. How do I get a work visa? (I am a US citizen, my wife is a Danish national).

3. How long does it take to learn danish to where you don't need someone to translate everything such as restaurants and stores?

There are some websites for English Jobs in DK -t hose you can google.

If you've come to denmark under the family reunification plan, then your work permit should be included with your residency visa.

As far as learning the language, it's a matter of how much you're willing to apply yourself, and the quality of instruction at the language school you're assigned.  Under the family reunification plan, they give you 3 years to pass PD3 (Prove i Dansk 3) - which is roughly a 7th grade proficiency in Danish.

most Danes are familiar with English. They have all learned in school. You could probably, easily get a job that involves people who only speak English.

If your wife is a Danish citizen, then she can sponsor you for a visa to live in Denmark. This should allow you to work there as well. I know an American who went to Denmark with his girlfriend and lived there a year but was not all that successful in finding work or learning the language, to be honest. The fastest way to learn Danish is to get enrolled in a language course right away. It will take some time to learn Danish and you will probably be frustrated along the way. However, Scandinavian languages are generally not all that hard to learn. Where you get a job in Denmark depends on your skills, background, and how much Danish is needed to do the job. Your best bet might be to try to work for a place run by foreigners, such as an Irish pub, etc. That would get you started. I hope my advice helps.
