Empty liquid containers on a flight?

Am I allowed to bring empty liquid containers on a flight, or will they make me throw it away. For instance, a baby formula bottle.

  1. Yes, you can bring empty containers.  

    I always travel with my own empty water bottle so I don't have to pay exorbitant prices for airport water.


  2. It depends. According to the TSA, containers must hold only 100ml/ 3oz.  I have been asked to discard empty water bottles, and I've seen it too many times where people had to throw out containers that can hold more than 100ml/3 ounces.  

    They tend to be OK with baby stuff if the baby is with you.  You can also bring baby formula that is mixed and in larger quantity than 3 ounces, etc.  go to TSA for more details

    Regardless, you have to declare them.

  3. yes you can that is fine but you must proove that it is empty or else they have the right to take it away
