Empty memory card from Nikon camera?

Question

I just got a Nikon S550 Digital Camera, and bought a SanDisk SD memory card for it. Is there a way for me to wipe the pictures on the memory card? I have already downloaded them to my computer, and there is around 800 pictures on the card, which would take hours to delete off the camera. Does anyone know an easier way?

when plugged into your pc just open your picture file on the sd card hit ctrl+A and that will select all then hit delete or on most camera's you can go to settings and format the card deletes everything

Actually all you have to do is use the format feature on your cameras menu and the old images will be removed, the card refreshed, new file folders and a new image index file written.
