Emulous prevails in the TRI Equestrian Stakes at Curragh on 26th May, 2012
The K. Abdulla owned Emulous landed an electric victory in the Group 3 TRI Equestrian Stakes at Curragh on 26th May, 2012, which was her fourth consecutive victory since May, 2011.
The daughter of Dansili, out of mare Aspiring Diva, trumped the competition and left everyone else to follow in her hoof-prints, as she gained pace under the command of rider Pat Smullen, who has mounted her in all her starts.
The five-year-old mare raced as a 4-5 favourite and used her brisk pace to gain the lead on, One Spirit, as she finished 1 ¾ lengths before her, whereas the third placed position was granted to John M. Oxx’s charge, Alanza.
The winning jockey was immensely pleased with the way she performed as she stated that:
"She's a very good mare. She's got a lot of ability and travelled very well there. She's a very talented filly, she just kept improving and progressing last year and hopefully she will do the same thing this year.”
According to him, after this victory, Emulous will be able to tackle all obstacles thrown her way and she is open to all options available since the bay mare does not lack in talent and she has a good number of years ahead of her.
With her skill and talent, she triumphed in the Group 1 category when she closed her previous season with a victory in the Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on 3rd September, 2011, where she defeated A.P. O’Brien’s charge,
Together, by a margin of 3 lengths.
Emulous’s trainer, D.K. Weld also expressed his delight to the press in these words:
“I'm delighted with Emulous, she's a proper Group One filly. When she won the Matron last September she beat a very good field. She usually takes a run, so I was just a little bit concerned she might need the run.”
Whelped on 28th April, 2007, the mare started her career on 12th October, 2009, and since then, she notched seven victories in eleven starts.
Emulous has great things in store for her but it is not yet certain as to where she will race next.
