Emulous to bag her seasonal opening in the TRI Equestrian Stakes at Curragh
Curragh will stage the Group 3 (Fillies & Mares) TRI Equestrian Stakes over a mile on Saturday, 26th May. The race has attracted a line-up of nine four-year and older runners with the winner to be awarded with the €39,000 prize money.
Even though there are numerous entries who have raced during the new season already, Emulous, Dansili’s five-year-old bay mare out of mare, Aspiring Diva, seems to be the most inspiring candidate. She will be racing her seasonal debut today and she has struck
a hat trick through the last three races of the previous season.
She cracked into the previous season on 3rd April in the Group 3 Big Bad Bob Gladness Stakes at Curragh over seven furlongs. She could not finish the race decently as she only managed parking sixth on the track of nine.
The race was won by Lolly For Dolly while The Cheka finished the closest. The 9/4 favourite of the race, Regal Parade, parked fifth just before Emulous concluded the race.
She then went on and did not give much choice to the contestants of the next three races as she bagged all of them and entitled herself to a hat trick.
The five-year-old won the Group 3 TRI Equestrian Stakes on 21st May at Curragh over a mile. She had P. J. Smullen riding and the two led the 11/10 favourite runner up of the race, Lolly For Dolly, by 1 ¾ lengths.
Coming at terms with the third position behind the winner was Kinky Afro.
Emulous conquered the second leg of the hat trick on 29th June at Fairyhouse over seven furlongs. Entered as the 9/4 favourite and paired up with P. J. Smullen once again, she led the field by a length.
Joining the winner the quickest on the other end of the wire was Claiomh Solais while reserving the third slot was Rose Bonheur.
She monopolised the third and final chance on 3rd September in the Group 1 Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes at Leopardstown over a mile. She won by three lengths, set Together second and cornered the 6/4 favourite of the race, Misty For
Me, third.
Her welcoming race for the new season is again at Curragh where she has already won and still leads with the most assured of chances to capture the race.
