If there is no reaction when H2O2 is added to cows liver (an experiment) does that mean there is NO catalase in the cows liver? If there is a fast, moderate, or slow reactions, does that mean there is catalase? Please help. Im a little confused on writing my lab report. Thank you.

  1. If there is no reaction when H2O2 is added then I would say it is safe to conclude that there is no catalase.  However, if a reaction (whatever the rate) occurs then it does not prove that catalase is responsible.  Other enzymes destroy H2O2 as well as catalase; namely peroxidases.
