Encke – One of the leading Flat Horses of the modern era
Encke has really been doing an impressive job for his team since making his Horseracing debut, and if he continues delivering such strong results, he will definitely end up amongst the leading Flat Horses of all time.
The young colt from the United States of America first appeared onto the scene in September 2011 at Doncaster. He was under some pressure back then and was not given the highest odds for a victory.
Despite that, he put together a strong show and finished as a runner up by just half a length. He was held at the back in the opening phases of the race, but made a solid recovery to challenge the race winner.
Afterwards, he took part in another race that year and the bookies priced him highly during that competition. He lived up to their expectations and claimed the top spot by a clear margin of four and a half lengths.
The Mahmood Al Zarooni’s trainee did not take part in any other race after that in 2011, as he prepared for the next season. He worked really hard and reappeared onto the scene with another strong run.
He was given the best odds for victory in the third race of his career and no one managed to come in his way. The ground was affected by rain back then, but that did not trouble him much, as he finished on top of the table by half a length.
Things started getting a little tougher for Kingmambo’s son, as he entered Group races to fight against the best in the business. However, he kept on training hard and performed reasonably well in them.
The biggest challenge for the Godolphin’s owned colt was to represent his team in Ladbrokes St Leger Stakes, which was a Group 1 contest. He was up against some high quality performers such as Camelot, who was rated as the outright favourite to succeed.
No one would have expected Encke to be strong in that event, as he was priced 25 to 1 in the all important race.
However, he surprised one and all with his speed and finished at the top of the table, making his team proud. He proved that he was headed to the right direction and will definitely win more important races in the years to come.
