Question:

Enclosing a carport?

I want to enclose an area off my house to make a carport. It's been built for a carport, just an open one- no walls, just concrete floor and roof. But now I want to add roller doors and some type of walling, so make it more secure and keep the animals out. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could use for the walls? I thought about bricks, but that's going to be too expensive. The area is over 30 metres. And then I thought perhaps lattice at the bottom, and shade cloth for the rest, but this would still allow snakes and lizards through. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

  1. Maybe put the lattice up and put the shade cloth inside it? that should keep the nasties out, otherwise the rolls of bamboo screens are very inexpensive, if you are still worried about snakes and lizards you could put shade cloth on the back of it. ( i got 1.8m high x 3m long bamboo screen for $20 from hardware store)

  2. The last 2 answerer's are good !  but be carefull you don't round afoul of the local council , they can be at best frustrating and at worse holier than thou

  3. Fibro or just lengths of wood.

You need to make sure it is structurally sound and strong enough to hold the weight of a garage door.

  4. How about framing it up and using cement sheet, very cheap. Then to make it look better either render or bag it. Hope this helps.
