Question:

End of light bulbs beginning in 2012?

The 100 watt will be outlawed in 2012 and the 40 watt a few years later. What will happen to the multi-watt bulbs, spotlights, track lights, and all the rest? Are halogens immune? How will they replace the "warm" lights most of us have in our homes? Right now, four 40 watt bulbs cost $1.69 at Long's. One flourescent sells for over $3.50 without the Phillips temporary discount. How stupid are we? Do you think this is another 'ethanol" scam? Are we going to spend billions on these things only to find that the mercury accumulation is intolerable? What happened to free choice? Why not outlaw SUVs, motorboats, and private planes?

  1. Walmart had a deal where you could buy three flourescents for about 8 bucks so I tried them.  I am satisfied with them but also want to research the LED technology.  I get a feeling that from an energy point of view they are better.  Probably more expensive right now but that's the part I need to investigate.

The other angle is that the warm bulbs "wasteful" energy is in the form of heat.  So in winter time they seem okay but in summer they make the lesser sense.

  2. You're on the money about mercury in the long lasting "green"

    light bulbs.

That isn't talked about.  Don't break them.

hmmmm.  How do we dispose of them?

The other stuff, I haven't heard.

Politicians have only tunnel vision.  They don't know how to play "what if".

Smart, educated, intelligent people who sit around a table with other smart, educated intelligent people, who all agree on the same thing, without any opposing views,

    DO STUPID THINGS.

  3. This is all about funneling money into fluorescent bulb manufacturers accounts. Otherwise they would be pushing led's

  4. Why not outlaw SUVs, motorboats, and private planes?

    One thing at a time.

  5. Hmm, that's weird, I haven't hear about this. I heard about the Mayans predicament that the world will end in 2012. December 21, 2012. But i don't know.....

  6. this is just another scam by the global warming crowd to scare people into buy "green" bulbs. it amazes me that these global warming wackos jump on the mini florescent light bulb, but completely forget that LED bulbs are far more efficient than even the florescent bulbs, and are not harmful to the environment like the florescent bulbs are, and the LEDs last far longer.

  7. Haha... this is a joke.  It will never happen.

  8. This is the thin edge of the wedge of the green fascist agenda. First its light bulbs, then next its SUVs etc.

Before long, we'll be living in ignorance and freezing in the dark.

The Green agenda is nothing but a cluster of contradictions.
