End of the road for Eei h*i, Pei Tty in Yonex Australian Open GP Gold 2012
It is end of road for the Women’s Doubles pair of Malaysia Chin Eei h*i-Wong Pei Tty after losing to Taipei couple Cheng Wen Hsing-Chien Yu Chin in the quarter-final of Australian Open GP Gold on April 6, 2012.
The Malaysian ladies surrendered after sweating hard for 56 minute to put final figures of 17-21, 21-18 and 24-22 on the scoreboard.
This defeat may put their Olympic spot in danger as the World Number 15 duo Eei h*i-Pei Tty was in Olympic qualification period and they cannot afford to lose their current position in world rankings. Only the top 16 teams will have the green light for London
Olympics 2012.
Last year’s runners-up couple could not revive their old chemistry and crashed out of the Australian Open in the second to last round.
Top Malaysian duo of Eei h*i-Pei Tty took a great start in the epic tussle and overpowered their rivals in opening game of the match.
Both teams though remained close in most part of the game but three consecutive points in the end made the difference and the Doubles Experts Eei h*i and Pei Tty bagged the crucial match point with an impressive 21-17 score on the board.
The following game took the standards to the next level as the two contestants put all they had to battle it out against each other.
None of them was in commanding position until the last moment and the second set kept swinging between the two teams until the World Number nine couple Wen Hsing-Yu Chin brought the match to right balance.
Taipei shuttlers levelled the lead with a tight yet decisive score of 21-18 in their favour.
The third set was certainly the best part of the match as both teams made the crowd gasp with their premium badminton skills. They did not allow each other to establish a comfortable lead and sweat hard to avoid being dropped from the tournament.
The seasoned couple Wen Hsing-Yu Chin reached at the game point twice but the Malaysians came in their way.
The Taipei shuttlers did not squander the opportunity for third time and the cliff-hanging tussle belonged to them with concluding margin of 24-22.
