I am really interested in books with the end of the world theme. Does anyone have titles of books that would fall under this catagory for me. I have already read Swan Song, The Stand, The Road, Wastelands, and would love some more.

  1. Life As We Knew It- Susan Beth Pfeffer

    Summary:

When Miranda first hears the warnings that a meteor is headed on a collision path with the moon, they just sound like an excuse for extra homework assignments. But her disbelief turns to fear in a split second as the entire world witnesses a lunar impact that knocks the moon closer in orbit, catastrophically altering the earth’s climate.

Everything else in Miranda’s life fades away as supermarkets run out of food, gas goes up to more than ten dollars a gallon, and school is closed indefinitely. But what Miranda and her family don’t realize is that the worst is yet to come.

Told in Miranda’s diary entries, this is a heart-pounding account of her struggle to hold on to the most important resource of all–hope–in an increasingly desperate and unfamiliar time.

This was a really good book. It was very enjoyable and scary to the thought that as global warming happens so can this, it was an excellent read and if you're into the world coming to the end books i'd highly recommend this book!!

  2. Feed - M.T Anderson

    The Host - Stephenie Meyer

I Am Legend  - Richard Matheson

    The Road - Cormac McCarthy

    Uglies trilogy - Scott Westerfeld

  3. On the Beach

    Z for Zacharia

    Postman

    When Worlds Collide

    Handmaiden's Tale

  4. Dies the Fire and The Change series by SM Stirling. These books are about a catastrophic event that causes electricity and gunpowder not to work. Man is thrust back into pre-Industrial times and only the few, hardy souls survive. The books follow the exploits of three clans with differering philosophies on survival and how they cooperate or clash as a result of these philosophies.

I really enjoyed reading these, and they will make you think about what would happen to you if something like this did happen.

A listing of the books and the order can be found at the link below.

  5. Left Behind (which I do not recommend)

The Bible (which I highly recommend)

1984 has a very end of times feel to it as well.

  6. Stark by Ben Elton-brilliant.

I think Matthew Reilly books have this theme too-check him out online-he's a young australian-i think is first book was Temple.

  7. Revelations in the Bible.

If you are not a Christian and don't even want to be, Revelations is still a good book about the end times.

Its the last book of the Bible so its easy to find.
