For Chirstmas I gave my teachers all homemade brownie cupcakes - they all said they were GREAT! But I dont know what to do for the end of the year. I am 8th grade, I am going to t he high school next year and this have been my FAV teachers. I had them in 7&8th grade. So I want to do something really good. But kinda cheap. I am 14, and I have 7 teachers. I am think cookies (I made, I am a really good baker! Everyone says so!), and a letter. And maybe like a candle for my female teachers and a SB gift card for the males. IS this good??

  1. I think your idea is very nice -- especially the letter part.  Another great thing that students have given me is a little plant for my garden.  I think of them all summer then.  :)

  2. At your grade, and with 7 teachers that you want to share a gift with, I love the idea of a letter.

I might even make a personalized card for each teacher that shows what they taught you and then a handwritten note.  For example, for your English/Language Arts teacher, you might find a quote from a book that you read in class or a book that you know she likes to use on the cover of the card.

This will be very cost effective and the personal touch is more meaningful than most material items that you'd spend a lot of $$ on!

If you want to add the sweet treat, you could even make one nice sized cookie for each teacher, wrap it up fancy in cellophane and deliver it with the card that you made.

Truly, the homemade, from the heart gifts are the most meaningful!

  3. The letter is definitely a great idea.  I love to keep notes and letters from my students and look back at them over the years.  As a teacher, I love to collect pictures of my students and myself.  Start bringing in your camera or go buy a disposable one.  You could put together a little scrap book using construction paper and cut outs.  Even write fun or descriptive little captions underneath.  This would definitely be appreciated and especially memorable.

Have a wonderful summer and good luck in high school.  You sound very thoughtful and sweet.  I'd love to have a student like you!  Your teachers are very lucky.

  4. As a teacher I loved gift cards.  You could give one for a teacher store or for a large store like Walmart or K-Mart.  Teachers can then choose whether to buy personal items or school items.  Many school items are dirt cheap right before school starts next year, e.g. file folders sell for 10 cents each.

    Hope this helps.
