Alright I know im 16 but sooner or later we will run out of oxygen and water we all know this I would expect so do you think when the time comes Air would be sold? and water prices would boom up to like 20$ a bottle? If people know this then wouldent the get rich plan be to start storing water and air? to sell sorry random question

  1. I think God will return to save the Christians long before that ever happens. So come to Christ and you won't have to worry about all this.

  2. There are very few ways that we will run out of air, and the only way we are going to run out of water is if the entire planet is blow to bits.

All of these theory's are very far fetched and highly unlikely. Simply because you see something in a movie or on discovery channel does not mean that it is going to happen. Its entertainment, they want to shock you

  3. That can be a possibility if people now don't start doing something instead of just yaking endlessly on the streets about environmental concerns. Governments should stop the bureaucratic BS, especially when it comes to the environment. Al Gore's move is already a step in making people aware about the severity of the issue. It doesn't even matter now if people are rich or not, because when it comes to the environment, it's everybody's concern. No amount of material wealth can solve global warming anyway. So, unless governments around the world stop the bickering and protocol, because there are always extenuating circumstances that we should consider, then breathing clean air and drinking clean water for a price would not be an impossibility sooner or later.

  4. wow you sixteen and dont know that trees  can reproduce oxygen from the cabon dioxide we breath.... and trust me we're not running out of water, your just paranoid.

  5. What you didn't watch Algores Inconvenient Truth did you? Dont stay up late and watch horror movies. I watched some giant lobster movie when I was young scared me for days, fraid to look in the closet or under the bed for my shoes.

  6. We're not going to run out of water. And if we ever do, you won't be around to hear about it.

And as for air ... your not serious right?

  7. Another aspect to consider is that water is not lost. It is recycled through nature by evaporation and other processes, but potable or drinking water could become a problem but huge advances in desalination show we can use salt water if needed.

  8. Good question. But, even now, we are "paying" the price for abusing this planet. The problem isn't just the rich, way to many people don't conserve, re-use, or recycle. I for one am tired at watching neighbors wasting water and electricty, while I turn off lights, put on a sweater, gather up the cans and plastic bottles to take in for a bit of $$$.

I've brought back the yard of my house with kitchen compost. I even save the water from boiling eggs or potatoes, let it cool and water the roses.

There is already water for sale out there for more than $20 a bottle. Depends of where you shop.

  9. 16 is beautiful, but don't worry, we humans are slowly evolving to breath air that contains more and more pollutants, and water that is poorly recycled, and in 10000 generations, that is about 250000 years, we will have a new species of humans, called homo Urbanus (city human).

now seriously, we are going to run out of fossil fuels in a few centuries, and the earth could become hotter and as a result the land could emit vast amounts of methane that would kill all life on earth.

But sea water could be desalinated for !$ per cubic meter, which is expensive for irrigation but very cheap for drinking.

And even when all the fossil fuels are consumed, the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is far below lethal levels.

  10. Hobos have feelings too.

  11. Don`t be so dramatic

by the time the world runs out of air ,humanity and all that lives on the surface will have died out long before that,

And that may be thousands of years yet(i hope)

However we are facing POTABLE(SWEET) water shortage ,and many places are in trouble already ,so unless you are a multi millionaire who can build huge underground reservoirs to store water ,it is better to think of a communal way to do this ,starting at home,by conserving water and harvesting it as well.

Here is the story on how to do this in a practical way and pass the message and knowledge on to your friends, after all survival should not be an egoistic concept ,you`d be bored being left by yourself  ,We are all in the same boat, the same planet lets share the solutions.

    THE STORY OF WATER

We should not only conserve water ,we should also collect it when it rains ,make your lawn and garden receptive to absorb water ,and not let it run off onto the street.

And cars can be washed with rain water ,it does not have to be drinking water.

Here is the whole story on the best way to conserve and harvest water and why

The summary for the garden is mulching and lowering the flower beds

having the paths high so that they form basins that absorb the water .

PERMACULTURE ANSWER ON WATER HARVESTING AND CONSERVATION

    WHY SHOULD WE HARVEST WATER

because there is so little that we can use

    ------------------------------...

25% of the planets surface is land

75%of the surface is water and it is rising

    ------------------------------...

97%of the Earths water is salt

fresh water is only 3% of all the Earths water

most of it is beyond out reach

now much ice is melting and running into the seas fresh water lost for ever.

STORAGE or Location of % of the fresh water

    ice and glaziers 74%

    groundwater 800 meters + 13.5 %

    groundwater less than 800meters 11.o%

    Lakes 0.3%

    soils 0.006%

    Atmospheric in circulation 0.0035%

    rivers 0.03%

frozen land or permafrost is not included and represent an unavailable storage of 40%

so of the 3% about 11.6 ,is easily available to us ,in rivers, lakes and ground water surface aquifers, more and more of this is becoming contaminated

overpopulation of an extra 70 million people a year (increasing all the time )and expanding agriculture ,which uses 70% of available potable water supplies ,has brought the good(sweet) water supplies to critical levels ,some countries have been in trouble already quite a while .

Now climate change and desertification, because of irresponsible agriculture ,overgrazing and deforestation is damaging world fresh water production .

It is a good reason for concern and if we do not rectify matters by changing agricultural methods ,reforest ,stop deforestation, become more economic with water use ,stop producing more people ,stop wasting and contaminating water, we will be in serious trouble all round

and could end up looking like Mars

And these are some of the things we can do

    tp conserve water use

    EFFICIENT WATER USE

    IN THE HOUSE

one can connect the sink straight to the toilet cistern and so use the water twice ,first to have a shave and then to flush the toilet

also if you bend the ball valve you can regulate the level of the cistern

Always have your Grey water and Black water separate,so that the sink and shower water goes directly into the garden saving on irrigation and at the same time ,making the sewage smaller and easier to deal with ,

This also goes and irrigates the garden but via a cistern of two compartments and a French drain ,on which you plant trees,

    ON THE LAND

Economic systems of irrigation, like drip irrigation

and water harvesting design, using a lot of stone walls ,that condense water in the night

and planting leafy plants ,for the same purpose,

Building wind breaks ,to counter act the drying effects of the wind and farm towards Aggro forrestal ,using as many trees as possible to limit evaporation .

Using shade nets before we have tree cover

    and use MULCH

By cutting down the weeds before they produce seeds and leave them where they fall.

They will cover the ground add even more organic matter on top,(you can use saw dust, leaves green or dry),

And when you plant make a little space and plant in the mulch.this is the easiest quickest and by far most beneficial way(for the quality of you soil)to prepare the land for planting.

To prevent weeds from coming all you have to do it turn out the lights, you can even use cardboard or black plastic(this is good for strawberries because they will rot if they touch humid ground, and the bugs can get to them).

Mulch is organic material green or dry that covers the ground, the thicker the better the composting process will turn it in to black topsoil

The humidity is preserved underneath and promotes the development of worms(there exists no better compost than their excrements)and a variety of micro biotic life which together within the mulch produce more topsoil.

The mulch also keeps the ground temperature even and guards against the impact of the rain ,which would other wise brings salt to the surface if on unprotected land.

Mulch also prevents the soil from drying out because of the sun and, wind erosion.

    WATER HARVESTING

As far as catching rain is concerned ,we do this all the time ,and have done so already since Babylonian times, and is a part of the more advanced Agriculture, that existed with the Egyptians,,Moors, Arabs and probably many more

Central ,and South American indigenous people had this idea coupled to their pyramids ,catching the water of the slopes and leading it into tanks or onto the fields .

And many others ,today we call this WATER HARVESTING.

Only Modern Man is totally extravagant with the rain water given ,and complains of the wetness ,letting it run off into the rivers lost forever ,With out even attempting to hold on to it .

And then later complains of not having water ,when times are dryer

In Permaculture the rule is to harvest water to the point of Zero runoff.

This means that all of the rain that falls on an area is absorbed by the terrain and not a drop leaves it.

By building dams, ponds or Swales, with inter connecting ditches,

If there are enough of these ;the places ,where before ,the rain water ran over the ground into the rivers and on to the sea ,in a matter of hours or days.

It now runs into absorbent dams or Swales and saturates the ground and eventually reaches subterranean water deposits ,taking many months to do so.

Or it fills up ponds that can be used for Aquaculture.

And so a convex situation that repels water is transformed in a concave ,absorbent one and turning the area in to a sponge.

In Spain and Portugal ,which still display many examples of the conquering Moorish influence one can find many remnants of Water harvesting, such as Aqueducts and tanks underneath the patios ,which collect the rain water from the roofs ,to be used in dryer times.

In Arabia ,on a large scale ,land has been shaped to catch and lead, rain water into sandy areas or to agricultural lands.sand is almost as good as dams because it absorbs water and holds it.

Here in Mexico we collect the rainwater in our school for sustainable agriculture, but it is too near Acapulco to trust the rain water for drinking ,and this holds true for most places ,so we use it for irrigation.

the rain water from a gutter runs via a filter into a tank.

In Europe in my parents house ,when i was young ,we had a rain barrel, where the water from the gutter ended up .

this was usual in those days ,but i have seen few in modern times.

We can use this action also in other ways ,

for example the roof water via a ditch can run trough the chicken house ,cleaning it and end up fertilizing the vegetable plot(this is called the creation of energy flow.

this water used to be Ok in times gone by before Air pollution ,

Today i would recommend it only for washing and irrigation

  12. Calm down and relax for a moment.  The earth has been around for God only knows how many billions of years.  The earth is 70% water, so running out is not likely.  Likewise, so long as there is a. carbon dioxide and b. plants, we will not run out of oxygen.  However, the human race itself may be come extinct, life will always remain on this planet.

  13. Worry more about staying safe, getting yourself some kind of logical education and common sense thinking, keeping yourself out of harm's way in your travels and live life for happiness and enjoyment at your age. Running out of oxygen or water should not enter into the equation unless your kidnapped or something! Lighten up, live your life to the fullest, do not sweat the small stuff!

  14. it's a good question. Anything is possible and looking at the way we take for granted the environment and treat it, we will have to do this sooner or later. We'll probably have to start using oxygen masks or something.

  15. We will not run out of oxygen or water. If you worried about oxygen get planting fast growing trees, trees produce oxygen and store carbon, essential in battling climate change. The wood (carbon) can then be used to build. Look up your local council or forestries for free trees.

  16. I think you are crazy.  There is no way we will run out of air, and nobody is going to start "hogging it" to sell later on. Where do you come up with these questions, anyway? Yes, there is a possibility that water will be less plentiful than it is now, but still theres a lot of water around that can be pumped into water treatment facilities to be used.  So, to answer your question, no we won't run out of oxygen, and two, we might run low on water as we now know it, but even though the process of purifying and transporting water to cities might increase in cost, the water will still be there to be used.
