Question:

End of world hunger possible?

In school we are having a debate on world hunger- whether we think it's possible or not. But we will not be informed until the final day if we're for or against, so we have to prepare for both. Our teacher has given us some points to mention, but I'd like more. Does anyone know any?

  1. no there not enough food to go round unfortunatly to many in poverty

  2. There will always be someone on the bottom of the economic chain

  3. It is estimated we could produce enough food  to feed double  the present wold population. The problems are with distribution not production. Most of the time  we see starvation it is because of civil unrest or actual  warfare, but it also occurs due to local crop failures. Sometimes prices rise  beyond the ability of people to pay, as is happening now due to sudden shift in the markets for food , so demand is increasing faster than supply. That is, most of the causes of  hunger  are due to human causes and can be be fixed if there is a will to do so. But waring factions do not have the will, nor do people who would  rather have higher profits. The US is using  much of our corn  crop, that use to provide cheap food for the poor of the world, to make fuel for our cars, so we can not  say that it is " they " that lacks the will, it is also us.

  4. Yea, ask why we let our kids here in the united states starve yet were sending money and food over to other countries. We should be helping people here first. We may not be as bad as they are but we have hungry children here.
