  1. Our Earth and the creatures that inhabit it are all linked.  Each living organism supports the others in some direct way-- herbivores eat plants, carnivores eat other animals, etc.  When we start to lose links out of this chain it affects other ones.  This may seem minor at first, but the more we miss, the greater the impact.  There are some species scientists use as marker species that will tell us how much humans are being affected.  And while it is true that to some extent we can adapt and do just fine, I personally will not like living on a planet where there are no polar bears, for example, or elephants.  I don't see them except rarely, but I know the world is a more interesting, diverse, and better place because they are here and exist.   The best thing about living is the huge and vast variety of things there are to see and experience.  Animals and the variety of flora are the very thing that makes our world so fascinating. The fact that they are being snuffed out due to human activity is very real and very serious.  Unless we are  satisfied with having cows and chickens as the only other life on Earth, we need to protect every species.  There are lots of other reasons why this is important, not just a life-appreciation thing, as well.  For example, 90% of new medicinal discoveries are from plants that we are just now discovering.  But in general, all life has value, and all life is worth protecting.  Thansk for asking this thought-provoking question!

  2. Isn't it true that animals, insects, birds etc have been going extinct since the beginning of time. As the world evolves, so do it species.  Someday, maybe man will be extinct.  And its  looking more and more possible every day. I do not think having less of anything in the long run is going to hurt us .  We will adapt.  The strongest species will survive. The weak will disappear.

  3. I love the way liberals and environmentalists try to link everything to global warming patterns.   Nevermind the fact that these are but trends..

  4. WE ARE AL INTERCONNECTED. ONE DISRUPTION IN THIS CIRCLE OF LIFE AND EVERYTHING LOSES ITS BALANCE.

  5. Every species in the biosphere has a unique and integral role to play in its particular ecosystem and food web. Start removing chunks of that food web, and sooner or later the whole thing collapses. And unless you happen to not live on the planet earth, you are a part of that biological system.

  6. in my sense it effects not only you but also it does to us and so is the concern for global warming.....

well, can i ask you a simple question?
